Tweaks to help improve your results

Much like mastering any conversation, phrasing your requests in ChatGPT will determine the clarity and usefulness of your answers. Remember, it's all about being linguistically savvy.

  • Say it straight: Be clear on your desired answer format. Need a summary or bullet points? Make it known!
  • Context is king: Give enough context in your query as GPT doesn't remember past requests. Include relevant background information and specifics in your prompts to give ChatGPT a better understanding of your needs.  Tell it if you are writing for a Blog, LinkedIn post (it loves putting in emoji's!) or a sales proposal
  • Tweak your settings: Control your results with the options of setting response length, adjusting the 'temperature' for randomness, and setting max tokens. If you want it to cite specific sources or statistics just include those in your prompt.
  • Engage in dialogue: Break down complicated questions into simpler, interactive ones. It's a fun and effective approach!
  • Review and edit: Take an active role in the process by reviewing and editing the responses generated by ChatGPT to ensure accuracy and alignment with your business goals. You can ask it to re-write its response and give it some more pointers about what you are looking for.

We asked ChatGPT to regenerate its initial response to “Write a persuasive email to convince potential customers to try our service” but to limit it to 200 words, here is the result:

You can view the full chat transcript including the revision request here it is amazing how much just a simple word count constraint can improve the outcome of your prompt, now imagine what would happen if you got into the real nitty gritty of structuring the prompt specifically for your business or desired purpose?
