This week we completed the installation of a Datto SIRIS 3 XP4 business continuity appliance at one of our manufacturing clients.
The installation of the SIRIS business continuity appliance is part of a larger server refresh for the client. We have implemented the Datto
appliance first to ensure the migration goes smoothly and gives us a solid backup plan should we encounter any unforeseen issues.
The SIRIS is a fully featured business continuity platform allowing protection for local, virtual and Cloud environments.
As our client produces a lot of CAD files, they opted for an all SSD 4TB backup appliance with infinite online storage.
Not only is the SIRIS 3 platform a great business continuity appliance, it includes the ability to have your own Cloud file sharing instance. With a few clicks the application is installed, registered and available on web browsers, desktop sync clients and mobile devices. Making it a lot more secure than utilising a public cloud file sharing service such as Dropbox.
Access files on SIRIS 3 from anywhere using desktop or mobile clients and synchronise changes to keep files up to date. All while storing in their local infrastructure rather than relying on a public cloud.
As we have mentioned in a previous blog, the Datto replicates data from live servers onto the appliance and also into Datto's data centre in Sydney, so a business can be up and running in a few clicks when disaster strikes, which we of course are hoping doesn't happen, but with the rise of cyber security threats prevention is better than the cure.
